}}Nachzehrer is a ghoul-like enemy from the Beasts faction. They come in three sizes.
Spawning
Nachzehrers spawn in plains and steppes. They also can be encountered in Hunting Beasts contracts that appear in any village, but steppe, plains and swamp villages are more likely to generate nachzehrers, tundra villages are are less likely, and snow villages never generate them. They also sometimes can be encountered in Hunting Beasts contracts that appear in southern cities.

Behavior
Nachzehrers come in three sizes. Larger ones have more HP, damage, resolve, melee skill and defense, but less ranged defense. It's not uncommon to see one large Nachzehrer among small ones in the early game.
They have the ability to eat corpses, including those of their own kind, to grow in size, fully heal and improve morale. They are attracted to corpses and will try reaching them even if there is a spearwall or sometimes even if they are already in a zone of control.
The largest variant does not grow, but still can heal itself by eating corpses. It also can swallow a character alive. That character takes a bit of non-lethal damage and his morale is set to Breaking. There is no damage over time. When the Nachzehrer is slain, the character returns to battle. However he will die if you let the Nachzehrer escape with him. This ability is only used against player units.
Nachzehrers approach somewhat carefully and often wait for an opportunity to occupy a tile with a corpse and eat it on the next turn.
They take damage from Flasks of Blessed Water.
Tips
* They have the potential to snowball the entire fight out of control.
* Preventing them from eating corpses is very important.
* Stand on corpses yourself, or spearwall near corpses.
* Be careful with killing as it creates more corpses. Don't create corpses that you can't control.
* They don't have enough Action Points to be able to move more than 1 tile and eat a corpse in the same turn.
* Stun or pushback prevent a large Nachzehrer from swallowing a brother, also it can't do it when capped on fatigue.
* Militia squads have trouble fighting them and are not good allies in these fights.
* Some people talked about a strategy involving a very wide formation and dogs. Dogs provide extra damage and surrounding bonus, and make you difficult to surround. Nachzehrers prioritize brothers over dogs.
