Webknecht Bite }}Webknecht is a giant spider, a weak enemy from the Beasts faction. ==Spawning== Webknechts spawn in forests, except snowy. They also can be encountered in Hunting Webknechts contracts, that appear in forest villages, and in Hunting Beasts contracts that appear in any village, but swamp and especially forest villages are more likely to generate spiders, and snowy villages never generate them. ==Skills== {| class="article-table" style="font-size:85%;" | ! align="center" |Icon ! align="center" | Name ! align="center" |AP ! align="center" |Fatigue ! align="left" |Description |- |- |- |} ==Loot== Webknechts spawn with size from 0.7 to 0.9, and only drop loot if it is greater than 0.75, and the probability is 60% on top of that. This results in a 3/7 roll. |-|Regular origins= *3/7 chance of trophies: **A Gossamer (60% chance) or Poison Gland (40% chance). **5% chance of Webbed Valuables (180 crowns). |-|Beast Slayers= *3/7 chance of trophies: **A Gossamer (60% chance) or Poison Gland (40% chance). 50% chance of another, rolled separately. **5% chance of Webbed Valuables (180 crowns). Spiders hatched from eggs are too small to drop any loot. ==Behavior== Webknechts are very numerous, and will also generate Webknecht Eggs that spawn even more. The number of eggs is 5 times less than spiders, and each egg can spawn 4 of them. Spiders that hatched don't drop loot and their XP reward is halved. Eggs only appear when there is more than 5 spiders. Webknechts can traverse steep cliffs. Webknechts are beasts dumb enough to run into spearwall or come close without being able to attack. They sometimes run into surrounding and footwork away. They almost always prioritize web over bite. They can't have these injuries: *Fractured Hand * Crushed Finger *Fractured Elbow *Smashed Hand *Broken Arm *Cut Arm Sinew *Cut Arm * Split Hand *Pierced Hand *Pierced Arm Muscles * Burnt Hands ==Tips == *High melee skill is good to have because it is required to remove webs. *Webs decrease damage you do and increase damage taken from spiders. Prioritize removing webs over attacking. * You will fight almost two times more spiders because of eggs. However they attack with a delay, instead of in a one wave. * Defensive strategies don't work well because webs lower defense, and less killing means more spiders and more webs, more value of their Backstabber and Fast Adaptation. *6 AP weapons don't pair well with 4 AP breaking free. They require someone else to remove the web. *Double gripped swords (anything better than Shortsword) always kill them in two hits and have +10 to hit. Warbrands are similar because they have a 4 AP attack. * Polearms with Mastery allow to both attack and remove a web. Head hits kill spiders. Swordlance is the best choice because it attacks multiple targets. Killing Frenzy allows to kill spiders without head hits, and Berserk allows to attack more. *Spearwall does damage, but is fatiguing to use and can be quickly breached given the number of attempts spiders do. *Recover can be useful to restore stamina lost while killing and breaking free from webs. *With proper spacing they come close without attacking. *The sheer number of them coming close triggers many morale checks that can break morale if your resolve is low. *Evergreen forests, where you often fight them, have narrow passages that are easier to hold. On the other side, you start surrounded and shuffled, your archer can spawn isolated and spiders on their first turn will move next to him. Be prepared. *Contracts to protect firstborn can be difficult because Webknechts should be fought aggressively and Hexen must be fought carefully, and also spiders hatch from eggs and come from behind. Navbox Enemies
